Its February and that means we are one more month closer to spring!
January felt so long this year but while today is still grey, it looks like we have a lot of sun on the way over the next few days and I just have a good feeling about the net few weeks! I have been doing a lot of work behind the scenes this past month on many issues that affect us closely here in Etobicoke; road safety, affordable housing, and climate action is just a bit of that list. As regular reader can probably tell from my posts, I follow our elected politicians pretty close and know where many stand on these issues. I would be love to find out more about what you would like to learn from them in posts over the next few months. I also know that sometimes, on certain issues, it can be helpful to connect with those who represent other areas to learn about how they have dealt with matters that we are dealing with here in Etobicoke and learn from the positives and negatives of their past decisions. Also we cannot forget that most of the time issues are addressed better by those with lived-experience and those who advocate for the issues you read about every day. What and who would you like to hear from?
I want to bring Etobicoke closer to the issues and I know many of you would like to have more say at City Hall but do not know where to start. Lets start to build our knowledge base together and help get Etobicoke on the map in a positive light! Lets start having a real chat on the issues with those already immersed in the work everyday. The Etobicoke Voice presents “City Conversations” starting later this spring and to begin setting this up I need to know who you want to talk to and what you want to spend each of these sessions discussing. These will be open to polite and insightful discussions and will always aim for participants to have useful next steps for you to take away from these chats.
So, for next steps from this post please leave your ideas and thoughts in the comments or send an email to TheEtobicokeVoice@gmail.com with the subject “City Conversations”. All events will be virtual unless otherwise specified and more information on dates and times will be available once the program is set.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas!
Sounds great! I would be interested in City Conversations with young leaders Deqa Nur and Michael Kelly
