Its been a while since I have done a community group spotlight so I just wanted to share some work being done in Etobicoke by some really committed local volunteers and if you would like to have your group highlighted please send an email to TheEtobicokeVoice@gmail.com
I will be happy to consider groups doing good work that is not directly in Etobicoke but is in the GTHA!
The Friends Of The Etobicoke Greenway
The Friends Of The Etobicoke Greenway is a grassroots community group dedicated to enhancing our local environment. Our vision is to see the City Of Toronto transform the Etobicoke Hydro corridor into a vibrant multi-use trail system that connects and enriches our local communities.
Come see us at our first Park Pop-up at Bloordale Park South tomorrow (Wed July 31) from 6 to 8 pm! We will be near the playground behind Bloordale United Church.
Learn more about our project and let use know what you would like to see in this space beyond just the trail. We will have frozen treats for the kids and our friends at Save the Ontario Science Centre will be stopping by too.
Kids (of all ages) can DRAW a message in support of the Science Centre and they will make sure our artwork gets delivered!
We aim to:
See a Safe and Accessible Trail Created: Develop a multi-use trail that is safe for pedestrians, cyclists, and other non-motorized users.
Enhance Connectivity: Link neighborhoods, parks, schools, and other community hubs through an integrated trail network.
Promote Active Transportation: Encourage walking, cycling, and other forms of active transportation to improve health and reduce environmental impact.
Preserve and Enhance Green Spaces: Protect existing green spaces and promote biodiversity along the trail.

South Etobicoke Community Land Trust
What is a Community Land Trust?
A community land trust is an organization which acquires and stewards land. It's membership is made up of community members, who have the right to vote on and govern how the land is used.
Why does South Etobicoke need a Community Land Trust?
South Etobicoke is rapidly losing rental housing. The South Etobicoke Community Land Trust is an opportunity to maintain existing rental stock, and prevent our neighbours from being forced out of their community.
