Just a quick post to let everyone know about a great kid-led fundraiser with parent support and it is happening in our community this coming Saturday (June 24) from 9am to Noon at Fairfield Park.
This fundraiser is in its 9th year and it is one that started out only as a that lemonade stand in a front yard. The work behind the scenes and the desire to help other kids led to such growth that it outgrew its original sidewalk and needed to move to a local park. It is now a much loved community event where funds raised are donated to the #CaptainXavierFund. This fund supports scholarships for local children to attend the Silver Creek Preschool which provides programming for those with special needs and the fund is also is able to assist families with costs connected to medical equipment, devices, or aids that a child may require.
This annual event is planned months in advance by the youth volunteers who are known as the ambassadors of the event and they are excited to welcome the community this weekend!
To find Fairfield Park, it is located at 90 Loathian Ave which is near Islington just south of Bloor.

Stay tuned because tomorrow we will have more election discussion and a quick lesson on how we can be heard by our elected officials via an old fashion letter (which can be sent via email but just written as a letter if you prefer)! This letter lesson is also going to be a free preview of the monthly classes that are part of the subscription to my paid subscribers that will be starting Aug 1! More info will be coming soon….
Keep in mind that today is National Indigenous Peoples Day. It is a day for all of us to celebrate the history, heritage, and diversity of all our First Nations, Inuit, and Metis. Take some time today to learn about their contributions and teachings as we all work towards Truth and Reconciliation.
