Today is another meeting of the Etobicoke York Community Council at the odd time of 1:30 pm. Meetings normally begin at 9:30 am but this month we start a bit later and still have a packed agenda! Please note that this is coming out today as a free sample of what Paid Subscribers now can expect before each City Council Committee meeting AND Etobicoke York Community Council. Enjoy!
This is an exciting meeting for me personally because a new pedestrian crossing that I have been advocating on for years is finally near the finish line. As long as the motion passes, my community will finally at some point in 2024 see a safe crossing near our local middle school. That said, this is item 9.19 and there are actually as of this morning 31 items to be dealt with today. I have submitted a letter on the matter and it was posted on the motion so you can take a look if you wish.

There are also a number of tree removal requests and traffic matters beyond the one I mentioned at the onset of this post.
What really stood out is some traffic calming reports that Deputy Mayor Morley has requested upon consultation with local residents and I will be interested to see those materialize. The areas of concern are Burnhamthorpe Road between Kipling Ave and Dundas, as well as Kingsway Crescent between Thorndale Avenue and Queen Anne Road.
If you would like to watch the meeting you can tune in at 1:30pm or watch the recording later at
