Today I am thrilled to feature a guest post by local writer Tanya Vividly, who takes us inside Paris Calling, a hidden treasure on Lakeshore Blvd West. From iconic vintage pieces to old Hollywood glamour, Tanya speaks with owner Michelle Kissoore about the shop’s origins, inspirations, and its stylish role in the community.

What is your definition of Vintage clothing? Or aka time period pieces…
My answer is a range between twenty years to under one hundred years that I would label the clothing vintage.
It’s styles are based on the fabrics, patterns, and sewing techniques of the designer.
Now imagine a local shop in South Etobicoke that specializes in cute ladies vintage fashions that includes sixties UK styles like Ossie Clark and Mary Quant. Also seventies and eighties throwbacks like Halston , Anne Klein and Thierry Mugler. Also for the love of legacy brand fans you will love pieces like Chanel, Gucci, and YSL (Yves Saint Laurent ) to name a few.
If you need more incentive to visit …you can also check out the nineteen fifties style vintage wedding gowns that inspire and embrace old Hollywood glamour. To add some extra sparkling effects you need to include the seventies and eighties freshly funky and chic accessories on display like glam purses, sunglasses and bracelets.
I enjoyed talking with owner Michelle Kissoore who enjoys her family run -business. Michelle has been in business for eight years and her family has lived in the area for twelve years. This family run shop has so much creative character and charm.
I asked Michelle - how and when did her vintage vision begin.
Her answer was art school in New York
She graduated in fine arts from Parson school of design.
I also asked Michelle …
Do you see yourself as a designer or a stylist ?
Her answer - a stylist.
My follow up question - why vintage?
She answered that it was her love of the creativity of fashion and style. Also recycling or the rebirth of clothing saves it from landfills.
My third question - As you completed your studies in New York…why did you come back to Canada?
Michelle’s answer - Her husband is also Canadian (he is from Ottawa ) when she became pregnant - she wanted her kids to be born in Canada. She loves Toronto, she grew up here (her family originated from Guyana).
What more can I say…

If you haven’t already, you might want to revisit a post I wrote a couple of months ago during the final days of the Provincial election. It’s especially relevant now, as I’m already hearing reports of misleading mail drops in nearby ridings.
Please take a moment to do your due diligence. And if you're unsure about the legitimacy of local materials, don’t hesitate to contact your local campaign offices—they can help verify what’s real and what’s not.
