A couple of weeks ago I wrote about an urban design challenge being put on for students to try and find a solution to a very real problem in the Warren Park neighbourhood! The community is trying to make the area of St. Marks Hill safer for everyone and that includes a lot of kids who are trying to get to school without getting hurt.
This will just be a quick post today, I’m putting some other pieces together that are not ready just yet but I did want to make sure that I posted this competition once more before the entry period closes on Wednesday of this week (Feb 15, 2023).
The unique opportunity it gives to both the students taking part and to the community looking to get more help from the city; is one that other communities could look at as a starting point in future advocacy efforts.
So once again (to refresh everyone’s memory) the competition is open to both students in K-12 and also to Post-Secondary Students. Teachers are also welcome to go and sign up their class to work on an entry together as a class project!
Once you have signed up your student they have until March 31 at NOON to submit their final entry.
On April 15 there will be an exhibition and presentation of awards at Lambton House to close the competition!
The website is so full of information so go and check it out and talk to your kids because if interested there are just a few days left to be counted as IN!
