Like many of us these days I have a hard time remembering what day of the week it is and sometimes even what day of the month it is! I miss the days when my kids were so dependent on me to remember their school schedule that we had the school calendar always nearby. But now that they are older they are more in control and don’t need me as much to plan for them. I mean that is great and all because that is what all parents want their kids to be able to do but it also seems to mean that for me, I look less and less at my own planners! It sometimes surprises me to see the date and seeing that I have less time to get things done than I thought! So to help everyone out (and myself too) I am going to make a point to post each week a quick list of what is going on in Etobicoke so that we all can be more in the “know”!
If I help you stay organized than you are helping me too!
Let me know if you have an event, meeting, or an ongoing program that you would like me to share with the community!

Saturday Feb 11 - Documentary Screening - Steadfast: The Jean Augustine Story - Cineplex Queensway - 9am to 12 noon
This is an event being put on by South Etobicoke’s, Jean Augustine Centre for Young Women’s Empowerment, to celebrate Black History Month.
Jean Augustine has been a distinguished member of the Etobicoke community for decades. She was once a teacher and then Principal who went on to many other positions making a difference in her community. She made history when she began to represent Etobicoke-Lakeshore in Ottawa as an MP from 1993 until 2006. How did she make history; because she was the first African- Canadian Woman to sit as a Member of Parliament in the house of commons. It is due to her hard work that February was declared Black History Month in Canada. There is so much to know and so much that she has done since her years in Ottawa; to learn more about this amazing Etobicoke resident do consider taking in the screening as it will be one you won’t ever forget!

The tickets are $43.93 on the site but keep in mind that this is also a fundraiser for The Jean Augustine Centre (JAC) in south Etobicoke that has so many great programs available to young women in our community!
Saturday Feb 11 - Registration opens for Summer CampTO
The online system opens at 7am on Saturday morning so be sure to figure out what programs you want and what their codes are before this time because as we all know the spaces go fast! Remember that if you want to book multiple weeks you need the codes for each week as you can only register by the week and not for the month otr the whole summer at once.
