The Etobicoke Voice will be starting a book club that focuses on books about or are set in Toronto and area! I have found that reading about your own city teaches you things you would never know otherwise. When you know more about the history and stories of where you live, the more connected you become to your city! Lets learn and discuss and have some fun at the same time!
I am going to announce 3 books to start. Yes, 3, and no you don’t need to read all of them, just pick the one that most interests you. I am going to have books that are roughly connected but are different genres so as to have something for everyone. The book club is open to all subscribers and I will discuss each one in a post this coming Wednesday. If you are interested in taking part leave a comment and I will add you to the list.
The first group of books are:
Letters Across The Sea - Genevieve Graham (Historical Fiction)
The Good Fight - Ted Staunton and Josh Rosen (Historical Fiction/Middle Grade Graphic) - may be written for middle grade but is good for anyone who likes Toronto History and Graphic novels and is one of my favourite books of 2022
Toronto: Biography Of A City - Allan Levine (Local History)
While we are talking books, what are some that you would suggest for upcoming discussions?
Hi Jennifer, thank you for the book recommendations. I signed out “Letters Across the Sea” from the TPL on my Kobo eReader and finished it last week. It was a very good read! I’m going to add the other 2 to my reading list. 📚
