I do not have investors, a board, or anyone else to answer to on this page. I write things as I see them. You may not agree with me, but I will not tolerate being told how to think or what to say! Thank you.

Please don’t speak for the community. No one I have spoken to wants a community centre. The lack of transparency was shocking. The community just found out less than a week ago. The park is used by the residents daily. Families have used the park for 50 years. Our seniors at Chartwell deserve quiet green space for their well being and mental health. Toronto residents should be informed that council is giving away parkland behind our backs.

Not a single resident I've talked to in that area wants to lose their greenspace or thinks this is a good idea. Do you honestly suggest that community input will be welcomed? I've provided a link to the City of Toronto website item in question. It shows all city councillors voting near unanimously to both not inform the public of the plans as well as not add verbiage, "to first conduct a robust community public consultation for any site under consideration and report to Council with the findings, prior....". They clearly don't care for the community input you said would be welcomed. You should be more supportive of the members of our community, including Councillor Holyday. He was one of only two dissenting voices against keeping this matter secret and was a proponent of transparency by suggesting to include the above language of consulting the public.

You should be alarmed, not supportive of this secretive approach. You should be supportive of transparency and be more sympathetic to the members of the community where I grew up and continue to live. What you've written is not "The Etobicoke Voice" and most certainly not The Buttonwood Voice because it does not represent the thousands of residents who've signed a petition against this proposal.

I stumbled upon this page accidentally. As a resident in this community I can tell you we love our green space, many people walk their dogs here, my niece and nephew spend countless hours of enjoyment here and bringing a community centre which is focused on servicing ONE nationality is highly ridiculous considering the impacted neighbourhood does not have any representation specifically from the Somali community yet OUR tax dollar are paying for it. The actual residents in this neighbourhood are particularly Ukrainian, Italian and Portuguese. It would be better along Dixon where there is a large Somali community and there are existing buildings that can be utilized without taking away our previous green space! I read a previous post of yours about bike lanes which is just as ridiculous. The reason many people live in Etobicoke is to avoid the congestion of downtown. which is what it brought here. We are not all old seniors resistent to change. We are hard young working professionals who believe in fairness and community input. We believe in having proper collaboration with impacted neighbourhoods. I am not sure how you transport your kids to school in the winter but I'm sure as hell it's not on a bike. There is barely any usage. This city is being driven to the ground because of people such as yourself
